At Bible School

Well...here I am at Champfleuri (the Bible school in France), and we had our first real day of class today. It was still a light day, and I've really enjoyed it. I'm getting to know my classmates pretty quickly, and it's nice because it's a small class--12 people. We all sleep in dorms: I have three roommates, though I think a few people have less. There are a bunch of empty dorm rooms during weekdays, so if we ever need a quiet place to study or practice there are a few nice places to be alone. Today I found a small, pleasant one-bed dorm at the far end of the hallway where I could practice. I really like that room, so I think I'll keep using it to practice in and perhaps to study in as well.
I tried to take a walk into town this afternoon with Megan, one of my classmates. We started down the one road that was obviously a highway going down the mountain, but finally realized that there were to many twists for it to be safe. We kept having to cross to the other side of the road to make sure no cars would come hurtling by without seeing us, and even then we didn't really feel safe. So, anyhow, we went back, and next time I think we'll take the bus...or maybe get someone to drive.
The funny thing about the class is that only about half are "francophone"--that is, have French as their mother tongue. The rest are" anglophone": me, two Canadians, a British girl, and an Australian. Of course, we all speak a good bit of French, some better than others, and we try to speak it to each other. But it is easy to slip into English. I think we'll get the hang of it, though...Megan, the Canadian who speaks the least French at the moment, decided that she would speak French from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., and then speak English for the rest. I think that's a really good plan, and I'm going to try to slip into English a little less than I did today.
Anyhow, that's basically what's going on, and when I have the time I post some more. I don't have any new pics to speak of yet, so that'll have to wait.

Not while I'm at school, but I've been doing some research on a teacher in Atlanta that sounds really good. I really look forward to making some progress in my playing then...
