But perhaps the most remarkable thing was the weather. The day Kevin died, it was raining as it had been for the past several days...it was predicted to rain the rest of the week. Yet Tuesday morning, as we all headed out to Mass, the sun was out and not a drop of rain fell...neither did it Tuesday, or Wednesday. Last evening, as I went up onto the soccer field, which is on a hill so you can see in all directions, I looked at the horizon and noticed clouds...they seemed to surround us on three sides. Maurah, a fellow student, had noticed the same thing...but, more remarkable than that, she said she had watched clouds gather on the horizon and then spread apart as they came toward the college, gathering again on the other side.
I can't say for sure what caused this, but doesn't it seem like a small gesture from God? We've had three days of sun in spite of forecasts...today the clouds are gathering again, and perhaps it will rain awhile longer. But those three days seemed to be a message saying, "God has not forgotten you; he knows your pain and troubles, and He is there."
