I'm really kind of put out with the presidential candidates right now. It seems no one is able to run for anything--not to mention president--without behaving like a child towards their opponent. I'm sorry, but no matter what wonderful ideals and moral standards anyone has, they abase their own hard-built character when they stoop to childlike bickering. I lose any respect for them instantly; all I see is immaturity, or worse, dishonesty. Rarely is a candidate as evil as his opponent makes him sound. It's absolutely ridiculous! Even on Rick Warren's forum attempting peacemaking, fair questions, we got the impression McCain and Obama were only next to each other because they had to be. Why else would such a big deal be made about their sharing the same stage? Where are the days when opponents could be friends? Since when have political dissagreements meant personal enmity? Ha. Well, I suppose it's been like that since time began. Still, I have heard of public opponents who still respected each other personally.
In short, politicians make themselves ridiculous. In bending over backwards to sound good, they make fools of themselves. Sure, both candidates may believe in what they stand for and care deeply about many issues...but they don't seem to realize that it's below them--or should be--to slander each other.
I have nothing else to say without ranting about the same thing for another paragraph. My point is made. If only someone could make them see their silliness. This is why politics grates on me horribly.
